Bulk-Void Flagged Gift Card Codes From an Excel Workbook in Gift Up!

The Scenario

You are a fraud prevention specialist at a mid-sized e-commerce retailer. Your security team flagged a pattern this morning. 35 gift card codes are suspected of being obtained through account takeover. They are listed in an Excel workbook on the Flagged tab. Some may already be partially redeemed.

You need all 35 codes voided in Gift Up! before the end of business today. Every minute they remain active is another minute a fraudster can drain the balance.

The slow version:

  • Log into Gift Up! and open the gift card management section
  • Search for the first code
  • Open the card record and click void
  • Confirm the void action
  • Go back to the workbook, mark row 1 done, move to row 2
  • Repeat 35 times, being careful not to skip a code or void the wrong one
  • It takes 90 minutes and you are still not sure you did not make an error on row 18.

The fast version is one prompt.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent inside your Excel workbook that reads the flagged code list and executes the void on each one, writing the result back so you have a full audit log.

Open the SheetXAI sidebar and type:

Void every gift card code listed in column A of the Flagged tab in Gift Up! and write the status — voided or error — into column B for each row.

SheetXAI reads each code, calls the Gift Up! void API for each one, and writes the outcome back into column B. All 35 rows in a single run. You have a logged audit trail by the time it finishes.

What You Get

A complete void log, written back to the workbook:

  • Column B — "voided" for every successful void, "error: [reason]" for any that failed
  • Full audit trail — every code, every result, in writing, timestamped in the workbook's edit history

Failed voids are visible immediately. If three codes were already fully redeemed and cannot be voided, column B says so for those rows. You address only the exceptions.

If your security team wants the log emailed to compliance, you have a clean table in the workbook ready to copy. If they want a count of successful voids at the bottom, ask SheetXAI to add it and it does.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

Fraud investigations rarely hand you a perfectly formatted code list. SheetXAI handles cleanup and the bulk action in the same prompt.

When codes have inconsistent formatting

Some codes have hyphens, some do not. Some are uppercase, some mixed. Gift Up! expects a specific format.

Normalize all gift card codes in column A of the Flagged tab to uppercase and remove any spaces or hyphens. Then void each code in Gift Up! and write the result — voided or error — into column B.

When you only want to void cards that still have a balance

Some codes may already be fully redeemed. There is no point voiding a zero-balance card, but you want to log that you checked.

For each code in column A of the Flagged tab, check the Gift Up! card status before voiding. If the balance is already zero, write "SKIPPED — zero balance" into column B. If the card has a remaining balance, void it and write "voided" into column B.

When the workbook mixes flagged codes and approved codes

Someone added a "Void?" column to the workbook. Only the rows marked "Yes" should be acted on.

Read column A for gift card codes and column C for the void flag in the Flagged tab. Only void codes where column C says "Yes." Write the result — voided, skipped, or error — into column D for every row regardless of the flag.

When you need to void, log results, and generate a compliance summary in one pass

Full void run, audit log, and a summary table for the compliance team — all from one prompt.

Void every gift card code in column A of the Flagged tab in Gift Up!. Write the result — voided, error, or already redeemed — into column B. After all rows are processed, add a summary table below the data: count of successful voids, count of errors, count of already-redeemed cards, and total estimated balance recovered.

The pattern: describe the operation, the fallback logic, and the summary you need — SheetXAI executes all three without a second prompt.
