Research LinkedIn Targeting URNs for Job Titles and Industries in an Excel workbook

The Scenario

You're a campaign manager at a B2B agency building a new ABM campaign. Your client has given you a list of fifteen specific job titles, five target industries, and three seniority levels they want to reach on LinkedIn. Before you can set up the campaign, you need the LinkedIn targeting entity URNs for each of those values — the internal identifiers LinkedIn's API uses when you define an audience. Without them, you can't build the campaign or confirm that LinkedIn actually recognizes these values as valid targeting options.

This is handoff week. The account lead who normally does this research left the company six weeks ago and their notes are incomplete. You found a workbook template for this campaign, but the URN columns are all empty.

The bad version:

  • Open LinkedIn's Marketing Developer Platform documentation, find the reference for targeting facets.
  • Make individual API calls for each job title to get the matching entity and its URN — fifteen separate calls for job titles alone.
  • Repeat for each industry and seniority level.
  • Copy each URN from the API response into the correct row and column in the workbook, checking that you didn't mix up row 7 and row 8 during the paste.

Twenty-three values. Twenty-three API calls if you're doing it manually. An hour of copy-paste that would take thirty seconds with the right tool.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Excel workbook. It reads the values already in your worksheet and resolves them to LinkedIn targeting entity URNs in one pass — no API calls in your terminal, no copy-paste from JSON responses.

Search LinkedIn Ads targeting entities for the job title in each row of column A and write the matching URN and entity name into columns B and C

What You Get

  • Column B: the LinkedIn targeting URN for each job title.
  • Column C: the confirmed entity name as LinkedIn recognizes it — useful for spotting when your input title matched a different canonical form.
  • Any job title that returns no match gets a "not found" note rather than a blank.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

I also need URNs for the industries in column D and seniority levels in column E

Search LinkedIn targeting entities for job titles in column A and write URNs into column B. Then search for industries in column D and write those URNs into column E. Finally, resolve seniority levels in column F and write those URNs into column G

Some of my job titles returned multiple possible matches and I need to pick the right one

For each job title in column A that returned multiple LinkedIn targeting entity matches in column B, list all matching options with their URNs and follower counts in column C so I can choose the right one

I need company-level targeting URNs from a list of company names in column A

Look up LinkedIn targeting entity URNs for each company name in column A and write the URN and follower count into columns B and C. If a company name matches more than one LinkedIn entity, write all matches separated by a pipe character

Full campaign setup table with audience size check in one shot

For each row in this worksheet, resolve the job title in column A to a LinkedIn URN (write to column B), the industry in column C to a URN (write to column D), and the seniority in column E to a URN (write to column F). Then fetch a LinkedIn audience size estimate using those three URNs combined and write the estimated reach into column G. Flag any row where estimated reach is below 5,000 with "too narrow" in column H

That last prompt turns a blank campaign setup template into a populated targeting table with feasibility checks built in.
