The Scenario
Summer planning starts in April. The HR manager needs vacation days used, remaining vacation, and sick days for all 20 employees so she can finalize the holiday schedule and approve pending leave requests.
She sent a message asking each team lead to check MOCO and report back. After three days the response rate was about 60%.
The bad version:
- Log into MOCO, navigate to the Absence section, open each employee's record individually, note their vacation and sick day counts, enter them into the Excel workbook one row at a time.
- Realize MOCO shows remaining days based on the contract calendar, not the calendar year — decide which figure goes in the planning workbook and go back to adjust six rows.
- Sort manually by department because that's how the HR director wants it.
Twenty employees. Individually looked up. Manually transcribed. For a workbook that should take seconds to fill.
