The Scenario
You are the HR coordinator at a 50-person professional services firm. Licence renewal for Motion is next month. Your CFO wants to know exactly who is using the tool before approving the renewal quote. You need the name and email of every user across three Motion workspaces in one Excel worksheet — and you need to match it against the HR roster already in your workbook to see if there are any accounts that belong to people who have left the company.
You have the HR roster in Sheet2. You have admin access to all three Motion workspaces. You do not have an export button.
The bad version:
- Open Motion Workspace 1. Settings, Members. Count: 14 users. Copy each name and email into Sheet1. Some emails are personal addresses that do not match the company domain — note them.
- Switch to Workspace 2. Settings, Members. 16 users. Copy. Realize three of these people also appear in Workspace 1.
- Switch to Workspace 3. Settings, Members. 9 users. Copy.
- Write VLOOKUP formulas to compare the Motion email list against the HR roster in Sheet2. Two formulas are broken because the email formatting is inconsistent — one list has trailing spaces.
The CFO needs the reconciliation by end of week. Manual data entry followed by broken VLOOKUP debugging is not the plan you had in mind.
