Bulk Update NocoDB View Column Visibility From a Excel workbook

The Scenario

You're a product manager. Your team uses NocoDB as a project tracker, and there's a 'Sprint Board' view that the engineering team works from daily. Someone on the design side added 12 new columns last week for design handoff notes — columns that clutter the board for engineers who never need to see them. You have an Excel workbook with column IDs in column A and sort-order values in column B. The engineering lead asked you to apply the updated display settings before standup tomorrow morning.

The bad version:

  • Open NocoDB, navigate to the 'Sprint Board' view, open the Fields sidebar.
  • Find the first column that needs to be reordered or hidden, drag it or toggle it.
  • Find the second one. Repeat.
  • Do this for all 25 columns — while keeping the workbook open in a second window to track which ones you've already handled.

You're a product manager. Your value at standup tomorrow is in what you say about the sprint, not in whether you manually rearranged a sidebar at midnight.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Excel workbook. It reads your column ID and order data and through its NocoDB integration can apply the display settings to the specified view — all 25 columns in one instruction.

Read the column settings from this Excel sheet (column ID in A, order in B) and apply those display settings to my NocoDB 'Sprint Board' view

What You Get

  • Every row in the workbook is processed — column IDs matched to their NocoDB counterparts, display order set to match the value in column B.
  • Any column ID that can't be found in the view is flagged rather than silently skipped.
  • The 'Sprint Board' view reflects the updated column order before standup.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

Some column IDs in the workbook don't exist in that view — they're from a different base

Column A has column IDs, column B has display order — update 'Sprint Board' view column settings — for any ID that doesn't exist in that view, write 'NOT FOUND' in column C instead of failing the whole run

You want to confirm current column order before applying changes

For each column ID in column A, check its current order in the 'Sprint Board' view and write it into column C — then apply the new order from column B and write the updated value into column D

The same changes need to apply across two views

Column A has column IDs, column B has display order — apply the settings to both the 'Sprint Board' view and the 'Public Roadmap' view in my NocoDB base

Full kill-chain: validate IDs, apply display settings, confirm changes, flag any that failed

Column A has column IDs, column B has display order — validate each ID exists in the 'Sprint Board' view — apply the order change — write 'UPDATED' or 'ERROR: [reason]' into column C — write the total updated count into cell E1

One prompt covers the validation, the update, and the confirmation.
