Export a Full KPI Catalog from SimpleKPI into Excel Workbooks

The Scenario

You are an operations manager. You just inherited a SimpleKPI account from a director who left the company. 60 KPIs of unknown provenance. You need to document the full framework — names, descriptions, categories, units, and targets — before briefing your team tomorrow at 2 PM.

You have a blank Excel workbook open.

The bad version:

  • Open SimpleKPI, navigate to the KPI list
  • Click into KPI 1, read the details, type them into the workbook
  • Go back, click KPI 2, repeat
  • By 1:30 PM you have 20 of 60 KPIs documented and the workbook is not formatted yet.

The fast version is one prompt.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent inside your Excel workbook that calls SimpleKPI and writes the full KPI catalog directly into the workbook.

Open the SheetXAI sidebar and type:

Fetch all KPIs from SimpleKPI and write each KPI's ID, name, description, category, unit, and target into columns A through F of this workbook.

SheetXAI calls SimpleKPI, pulls every KPI, and writes the full table into the workbook. Sixty rows, six columns, one prompt.

What You Get

A complete KPI catalog in the workbook:

  • 60 rows — one per KPI, with all available fields
  • Column A — KPI ID (useful for follow-on write-back operations)
  • Column B — KPI name
  • Column C — description
  • Column D — category name
  • Column E — unit name
  • Column F — current target value

The KPI IDs in column A are immediately useful. Spot a KPI with a wrong target? You have the ID. Push the correction back in a follow-on prompt without searching SimpleKPI.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

Inherited accounts are rarely clean. SheetXAI can clean up the export as it writes it.

When you want the output sorted and grouped by category

The raw export comes out in creation order, not category order.

Fetch all KPIs from SimpleKPI. Sort by category name, then by KPI name within each category. Write KPI ID, name, description, category, unit, and target into columns A through F.

When you want to flag KPIs with missing targets

Some KPIs were created without targets.

Fetch all KPIs from SimpleKPI. Write ID, name, description, category, unit, and target into columns A through F. In column G, write "Missing target" if the target is blank or zero, and "OK" otherwise.

When you also need the user assignment list

The briefing needs to show who owns each KPI.

Fetch all KPIs from SimpleKPI including the responsible user for each. Write KPI ID, name, category, unit, target, and responsible user name into columns A through F.

When you need the full account audit: KPIs, categories, groups, and users

Your handoff documentation needs everything documented, organized by entity type.

Fetch all KPIs from SimpleKPI and write them into the KPIs tab with columns for ID, name, description, category, unit, and target. Fetch all categories and write them into the Categories tab with ID and name. Fetch all groups and write them into the Groups tab with ID and name. Fetch all users and write them into the Users tab with ID, name, and email.

The pattern: pull the full account state in one prompt, organized for a handoff.
