Bulk Update Beaconstac QR Code Templates From a Google Sheet

The Scenario

The rebrand went live last week. New logo, new color palette, new template ID in Beaconstac: 99887766. You have a Google Sheet with 80 QR code IDs in column A — all the codes that need the new template applied. The brand guidelines say all customer-facing QR codes must be updated before the trade show in four days.

The bad version:

  • Open Beaconstac, search for the first QR code ID, open its settings, navigate to the Design tab, change the template, save. Switch back to the sheet. Copy the next ID. Repeat.
  • By code 25, you're not sure if you saved the last one. The Beaconstac UI doesn't make it obvious which codes have the updated template applied without clicking back in.
  • At code 50, you realize you've been applying the wrong template ID because you misread the brief.

The trade show is fixed. The QR codes appearing on printed materials with last year's logo are not a fixable problem once the files go to the printer.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Google Sheet. It reads column A, runs the template update for every code listed, and writes back a status so you know exactly which codes succeeded.

Update all Beaconstac QR codes listed in column A of my sheet to use template ID 99887766 — process all 80 rows and write "updated" or "failed" to column B

What You Get

  • All 80 QR codes updated in Beaconstac with the new template
  • Column B populated with "updated" or "failed" for each row
  • Any failed rows clearly marked so you can retry or investigate them individually
  • A complete audit trail in the sheet — you know exactly which codes are confirmed updated

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

Some rows in column A are blank or have stale IDs from a previous campaign — only update valid, non-empty rows

For each row in my sheet where column A contains a non-empty QR code ID, update the Beaconstac template to ID 99887766 — skip blank rows and write "updated" or "skipped" to column B

I want to apply different templates to different codes — template ID is in column B, QR code ID is in column A

For each row in my sheet, update the Beaconstac QR code in column A to use the template ID in column B — process all rows and write "updated" or "failed" to column C

Only update codes flagged "pending" in column C

Update Beaconstac template to ID 99887766 for each row where column C = "pending" and column A has a QR code ID — write "updated" or "failed" back to column C

Clean the ID column, filter to pending rows, apply the template, and write results with a timestamp

Trim any whitespace from column A, then for each row where column C = "pending" and column A is non-empty, update the Beaconstac QR code to template ID 99887766 — write "updated" or "failed" to column D and the current timestamp to column E

Combining the cleanup, filter, and update in one prompt is faster than running them sequentially and checking the sheet between steps.

Try It

Get the 7-day free trial of SheetXAI and open the Google Sheet with your QR code IDs, then ask it to apply the new template to every row. The trade show deadline doesn't move — but the rebrand update doesn't have to take a day. See also: Bulk create QR codes from a sheet and the full Beaconstac integration overview.
