The Scenario
You run strategic outreach for a SaaS company that sells a Marketo alternative. Your playbook is simple: find companies that recently dropped Marketo and reach out within 30 days, while the migration pain is still fresh. The problem is identifying them.
You have a Google Sheet with 50 tracked competitor domains in column A, maintained by a former colleague who left the company six weeks ago. Nobody has touched it since. You inherited the spreadsheet along with the inbox, and the weekly technology-change scan that used to happen manually hasn't run since she left.
The bad version:
- For each of the 50 domains, go to BuiltWith, navigate to the technology history section, look for Marketo in the removed technologies, note the removal date
- Realize BuiltWith's history interface requires you to expand each technology category separately before you can see removal events, so this takes 4–5 clicks per domain, not 1
- Get through 15 domains in 45 minutes, accept that the remaining 35 are going to take the rest of the afternoon, and know that by the time you're done, some of the 30-day windows will have already closed
The window is part of the value. The longer this takes, the less useful the output is.
The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI
SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Google Sheet. It reads the domain list and pulls BuiltWith technology history for each row — flagging removal events matching your criteria without requiring you to navigate the BuiltWith interface.
Open the sheet with your 50 domains in column A and ask:
For each domain in column A, use BuiltWith datasets to pull technology history and flag any domain that removed Marketo in the last 6 months. Write the removal date to column B and "Marketo Dropped" to column C for matching rows.
SheetXAI runs the history pull across all 50 domains and surfaces the removals in a scannable format.
What You Get
- Column B: The date Marketo was last removed, where applicable (ISO date format)
- Column C: "Marketo Dropped" for rows where a removal event occurred in the last 6 months, blank otherwise
- Rows with no Marketo history at all get a note in column C so you can distinguish "never used it" from "no recent change"
- The remaining domains without a removal event are still in the sheet — you can filter column C to isolate your outreach targets immediately
What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready
I want to track removal of multiple tools — not just Marketo but also Pardot and Eloqua
For each domain in column A, pull BuiltWith technology history. Flag any domain that removed Marketo, Pardot, or Eloqua in the last 6 months. Write the technology name and removal date to columns B and C. If a domain removed more than one, write all of them separated by a semicolon.
I want to also flag recent technology additions — companies that just adopted a competitor tool
For each domain in column A, pull BuiltWith technology history. In column B, note any technology removed in the last 6 months. In column C, note any technology added in the last 6 months. Flag rows in column D where the added technology is HubSpot or Salesforce Marketing Cloud as "Switched to Competitor".
Some of the domains in my sheet have been rebranded and the BuiltWith record doesn't match
For each domain in column A, look up the BuiltWith technology history. If the domain has no BuiltWith record, check whether BuiltWith can find a redirect target for it and look up the history for the redirect target instead. Write the domain used for the lookup to column B, and any Marketo removal in the last 6 months to column C.
Full drop-detection and prioritization in one shot
Pull BuiltWith technology history for each domain in column A. Flag any Marketo, Pardot, or Eloqua removal in the last 6 months — write the technology and removal date to columns B and C. In column D, calculate days since removal. Sort the sheet by column D ascending (most recent drops first). Mark rows in column E as "Urgent" if removal was within 30 days, "Active" if 31–90 days, "Cold" if older.
The outreach prioritization — sorted by recency — comes out of a single prompt.
