The Scenario
The US procurement team sent a request this morning: "We need the supplier notes in English by Thursday." You're a global supply chain analyst. Column A of your Excel workbook has 1,200 supplier notes — a mix of Spanish, French, German, and Italian — collected over the past quarter from European partners. The notes contain delivery schedules, quality flags, and exception codes that the US team needs to act on.
Thursday is two days away. You don't speak French or Italian. Machine translation tools require copy-pasting each note individually or uploading a file and getting back a format you'd have to re-map.
The bad version:
- Open Google Translate in a browser tab, paste each note, copy the translation, switch back to the workbook, paste — 1,200 round trips.
- Export to a translation API's web interface, discover it only accepts 5,000 characters per request, split the file into 15 batches, reassemble the results.
- Ask a multilingual colleague to translate them — 1,200 notes is three days of work for someone who has their own job.
The US team can't act on delivery exceptions they can't read.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready
Column A also has some English notes mixed in — those shouldn't be retranslated
For each note in column A, first detect the language using Interzoid. If the detected language is English, copy the original to column B unchanged. If it's another language, translate to English and write to column B. Write the detected language to column C for reference.
Some notes are empty or contain only a numeric code — skip those
For each row where column C has a non-English comment, use Interzoid to translate it to English and write the result to column D. Skip rows where column C is blank or contains only digits or codes.
You want the detected source language alongside the translation for the record
For each note in column A, detect the source language using Interzoid (write to column B), then translate to English (write to column C). Flag rows where detection returned low confidence in column D.
Full translation + quality flag pass in one shot
For each supplier note in column A: detect the source language using Interzoid and write to column B. Skip English notes (write 'EN - NO TRANSLATION NEEDED' in column C). For non-English notes, translate to English and write to column C. Flag any row where Interzoid returned an error or low-confidence detection in column D as 'REVIEW NEEDED.' Then create a 'ForUSTeam' sheet containing columns A, B, and C for all rows, sorted by column B (language) so the US team can verify the language distribution.
The US team gets the notes by Wednesday. The delivery exception backlog gets cleared two days earlier.
