The Scenario
You're a Snapchat strategist working on a CPG client's Q3 plan. The client has two audience configurations in play: a broad 18-34 general targeting set, and a narrow interest-based set that's more expensive to reach but historically converts better. Before the budget allocation meeting on Thursday, you need to pull demographic breakdowns for both — age/gender/language composition — so you can make a defensible recommendation on where to put the spend.
The Snapchat Audience Insights tool shows this data in the UI. It does not export it.
The bad version:
- Open the Audience Insights tool for the first configuration. Read the age breakdown percentages off the screen. Type them into a planning sheet.
- Screenshot the gender breakdown. Type those in too.
- Switch configurations. Repeat. Realize the UI rounds to the nearest percent and doesn't show the language breakdown at all unless you hover over each row.
- Go back to the first config because you missed the 25-34 age bucket.
