Pull Department-Level Headcount Breakdowns Into a Excel workbook With CompanyEnrich

The Scenario

You're a market researcher two weeks into a sizing project. Your client wants to understand how deeply Sales and Engineering are staffed at forty target companies — not just total headcount, but the breakdown by department. They want it in a spreadsheet they can slice. You have the forty domains in column A of an Excel workbook and a deadline that's now this Friday.

CompanyEnrich has the workforce data. Getting it out row by row is the problem.

The bad version:

  • Pull up CompanyEnrich for the first domain, navigate to the workforce section, read the departmental breakdown, manually enter total headcount into column B, Sales headcount into column C, Engineering into column D, Marketing into column E.
  • Realize mid-way that CompanyEnrich shows headcount as a range for some companies and an integer for others, and your columns are now inconsistent.
  • Go back to align the format, then continue from where you stopped.

Your client is paying for analysis, not transcription. Every hour spent copying headcount data out of CompanyEnrich is an hour not spent making sense of it.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Excel workbook. It reads your data, understands the structure, and through its CompanyEnrich integration it can pull workforce breakdowns for every domain and write department-level headcounts into separate columns — in one prompt.

For each company domain in column A, fetch the CompanyEnrich workforce breakdown and write total employee count and department-level headcounts into columns B onward, using separate columns for Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and total headcount.

What You Get

  • Column B: total employee count.
  • Columns C, D, E (or however you scope the prompt): Engineering, Sales, and Marketing department headcounts respectively.
  • Rows where CompanyEnrich returns no workforce data are left blank.
  • Values reflect CompanyEnrich's workforce data, which may be an integer or a range depending on the company.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

You want to normalize range values to midpoints

For each domain in column A, fetch CompanyEnrich workforce data and write total headcount, Engineering headcount, Sales headcount, and Marketing headcount into columns B through E. Where any value is returned as a range (e.g., "50–100"), write the midpoint as an integer.

You only want to pull data for companies above a certain size

For each domain in column A, fetch total headcount from CompanyEnrich. Then for companies where total headcount is 500 or more, fetch the full department breakdown and write Engineering, Sales, and Marketing headcounts into columns C, D, and E. Leave columns C through E blank for companies under 500 employees.

Two worksheets — one with raw data, one filtered

For each domain in column A, fetch CompanyEnrich workforce data and write total headcount, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing headcounts into columns B through E. Then copy all rows where Sales headcount is above 50 into a new worksheet called "High Sales Orgs".

Full kill-chain: enrich + segment + index in one shot

For each domain in column A, fetch CompanyEnrich workforce data and write total headcount into column B, Engineering into C, Sales into D, Marketing into E. In column F, calculate Engineering as a percentage of total (round to nearest whole percent). Sort all rows by column F descending and copy the top 10 Engineering-heavy companies into a new worksheet called "Eng-Heavy Targets".

One prompt pulls the data, computes the ratio, sorts, and stages the segment.
