The Scenario
You are building a territory plan and you have an Excel workbook with 80 target company names — the pipeline export from the last quarter. Each row has the company name and a blank table waiting for employee count, industry, LinkedIn company URL, and HQ city. Your manager wants the enriched version in the planning session on Thursday. It is Tuesday afternoon.
The bad version:
- Open the PDL API console, paste each company name, copy the fields you need, and tab back to Excel to paste them in the right columns
- Hit three companies named "Tech Solutions" or "Global Services" where PDL returns multiple possible matches and you have no reliable way to pick the right one without clicking through each profile
- Deliver a workbook where 20 rows are blank because you ran out of time on the ambiguous ones, and spend Thursday's planning session explaining which accounts you couldn't enrich
Your job in this meeting is territory strategy. The research work was supposed to be the warm-up, not the whole act.
The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI
SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Excel workbook. It reads the company names already in the table and uses PDL to enrich each row with firmographic data, writing results directly into the workbook.
For every row in my Excel Accounts table, enrich the company using the website domain in column C via People Data Labs and fill in Employee Count, Industry, Founded Year, and HQ Country.
What You Get
- The Employee Count column filled with PDL's figure for each matched company
- The Industry column filled with PDL's industry classification
- The Founded Year column filled from PDL's company record
- The HQ Country column filled with the company's primary country of operation
- Ambiguous or unmatched companies flagged in a Notes column so you can resolve them before the planning session
What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready
Some rows have a company name but no website domain
Enrich each company using the website in column C as the primary signal. For rows where column C is empty, fall back to the company name in column A. Write employee count, industry, founded year, and HQ country to the corresponding columns.
You need to add a tier label based on employee count for the territory split
Enrich each company in the Accounts table via PDL and populate the employee count and industry columns. Then add a Tier column: "Enterprise" for companies over 500 employees, "Mid-Market" for 50 to 500, "SMB" for under 50.
Some companies are subsidiaries — you need the parent company for correct territory assignment
Enrich each company via PDL and write employee count, industry, and HQ country to the corresponding columns. If PDL identifies a parent company for a row, add the parent company name to a Parent column so the territory lead can assign the account to the right rep.
Enrich, tier, and route accounts to regional reps in one pass
Enrich each company in the Accounts table via PDL. Populate employee count, industry, and HQ country. Add a Region column based on HQ country: "EMEA" for European and Middle Eastern countries, "APAC" for Asia-Pacific, "NA" for North America, "LATAM" for Latin America. Then add a Tier column using employee count thresholds.
One prompt populates the firmographics and builds the routing logic — you walk into Thursday's meeting with a territory plan, not a research backlog.
Try It
Get the 7-day free trial of SheetXAI and open any Excel workbook with a column of target company names or domains. Ask it to enrich each row with firmographic data from PDL. Then see how to run a company search and import fresh account lists or go back to the People Data Labs overview.
