The Scenario
You are a media planner building a Reddit Ads targeting plan for a B2B software client. Your brief specifies twenty topic keywords you want to map to subreddit targets. They are in column A of an Excel workbook. You have until Wednesday noon to send the targeting plan to the client. It is Tuesday morning.
The bad version:
- You open Reddit.com and search each keyword manually
- You check Reddit Ads Manager to verify which subreddits are actually targetable
- You copy subreddit names and subscriber counts into the workbook by hand
- Two hours later you are on keyword eleven and you have misspelled three subreddit names.
The fast version is one prompt.
The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI
SheetXAI reads the keyword column and queries the Reddit Ads community search API for each keyword in one pass.
Open the SheetXAI sidebar and type:
For each keyword in column A of the Keywords tab, search Reddit Ads for targetable communities and write the top 5 matching subreddit names and subscriber counts into columns B and C. Use one block of rows per keyword, with the keyword label in the first row of each block.
SheetXAI calls the Reddit Ads community search API for all twenty keywords and writes the results into the workbook. Twenty keywords, up to 100 subreddit matches, structured per keyword.
What You Get
A structured community discovery table in the Keywords tab:
- Keyword label row — the keyword from column A
- Up to 5 rows per keyword — subreddit name in column B, subscriber count in column C

The subreddits are confirmed targetable via the Reddit Ads API. You are not guessing whether a community is available for advertising.
What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready
Keyword briefs have consistent edge cases. SheetXAI handles them inline.
When some keywords return no targetable communities
Some niche topics have no matching communities in Reddit Ads. You want those flagged.
For each keyword in column A of the Keywords tab, search Reddit Ads for targetable communities. Write the top 5 results into columns B and C. If no communities are found for a keyword, write "NO RESULTS" into column B for that keyword's row.
When you need to filter by minimum subscriber count
Your media plan requires subreddits with at least 50,000 subscribers for scale.
For each keyword in column A of the Keywords tab, search Reddit Ads for targetable communities with more than 50,000 subscribers. Write matching subreddit names and subscriber counts into columns B and C. If fewer than 3 qualifying communities exist for a keyword, note "UNDER THRESHOLD" next to that keyword.
When the client wants a flat table for sorting
Keyword blocks are hard to sort in Excel. The client wants one row per subreddit match with the keyword in column A.
For each keyword in column A of the Keywords tab, search Reddit Ads for the top 5 targetable communities. Write the results flat into the Flat Results tab: keyword in column A, subreddit name in column B, subscriber count in column C, community ID in column D. Sort by subscriber count descending.
When you need keyword discovery combined with community suggestions to maximize the list
You want direct keyword matches AND suggestions seeded from the top result per keyword, all in one pass.
For each keyword in column A of the Keywords tab, search Reddit Ads for the top 3 targetable communities and write results into columns B through D (name, subscriber count, ID). Then for each of those top communities, fetch the top 3 community suggestions and write them into columns E through G. Label columns accordingly.
The pattern: the keywords are in the workbook. The community discovery is an API operation per keyword. SheetXAI does all twenty calls and writes the structured result without you opening Reddit once.
