The Problem with Getting Reddit Ads Data Into Your Workbook
Reddit Ads is a real performance channel. Subreddit targeting, interest audiences, custom audience retargeting, ad group segmentation. The data accumulates, and at some point every paid media manager needs it in a workbook, to report on it, to brief a new campaign, to audit what changed.
The Reddit Ads interface is not a reporting tool. It is a campaign manager. If you want to see your full account in a format you can analyze, pivot, and share, you have to get the data out. And for Excel users, the friction is higher than most expect. Reddit Ads has no native Excel export path, no OneDrive connection, no Power Query connector.
Below are the four common ways people get Reddit Ads data into Excel. Only the last one handles the full range of work.
Method 1: Download the CSV Export and Import It Into the Workbook
The built-in path. Log into Ads Manager, run a report, export a CSV, open Excel, import or paste it in, clean the headers, fix the date format, and start your analysis.
When this works:
- A one-off report you will look at once
- A single campaign or a single ad group breakdown
- You have time to do the formatting yourself
When it breaks:
- Any recurring report (next week you do it again from scratch)
- Multi-tab workbooks where different tabs need different report types
- The CSV column order changes and every downstream formula breaks
- You need to combine campaign-level and ad-group-level data in the same tab
The column names Reddit Ads exports are not the column names your stakeholder wants to see. You spend as much time cleaning the import as you spend doing the analysis.
Method 2: Use Power Automate to Sync Reddit Ads Data to Excel
Power Automate is the natural choice for Excel users with files on OneDrive or SharePoint. You build a flow that calls the Reddit Ads API on a schedule and writes new rows into a table in the workbook.
This works for event-driven moments:
- Daily spend log: pull today's total spend and add a row each morning
- New campaign created → record it in a tracking workbook
- Budget pacing alert → log an entry when a campaign crosses 80% of budget
This fails for analytical or batch work:
- Pulling a 14-day ad group breakdown for all active campaigns
- Comparing this week's CPCs to last week's across subreddits
- Creating 12 ad groups from a targeting matrix already in the workbook
Power Automate flows fire on triggers and timers. They do not read a column and run an API call per row. They do not aggregate across a date range. And building the flow takes most of an afternoon the first time, with no guarantee it survives the next Reddit Ads API version bump.
Method 3: The Previous Generation — Reddit Ads Connector Add-Ins
Until recently, the best path for recurring Reddit Ads data in Excel was a category of third-party connector add-ins that let you configure a data source once and refresh on a schedule. You authenticated, chose your metrics, saved the configuration, and the add-in pulled the data when you told it to.
That was a real improvement over manual CSV imports. The refresh happened without you, the format was consistent, and the team stopped emailing files.
But the connector only did reporting. It did not create campaigns, build audiences, upload catalogs, or look at a column of keywords and return the matching subreddits. You were still responsible for configuring the exact fields you wanted, the date window, the filters, and any logic that combined data from multiple sources.
This is the category we think of as the previous generation. Solid for read-only scheduled reporting. Not built for the bidirectional work that most Reddit Ads managers actually need.
The Easy Way: Using SheetXAI in Excel
There is a different way entirely. SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Excel workbook, both on Excel for the web and Excel desktop. It reads the workbook, understands what you are trying to do, and through its built-in Reddit Ads integration it can pull reports, create campaigns, build audiences, and log results from a plain-English prompt. No Power Automate flows, no connector configuration, no API keys to manage yourself.
Example 1: Your Workbook Is a Reporting Canvas
You have a workbook open and you need last month's campaign performance, all fifteen active campaigns, with spend, impressions, clicks, CPC, and CTR.
Fetch a Reddit Ads performance report for all campaigns in the last 30 days and write campaign name, spend, impressions, clicks, CPC, and CTR into columns A through F of the Performance tab. Sort by spend descending.
SheetXAI calls the Reddit Ads API, formats the response, and writes it into the Performance tab. The client report is ready without a single CSV download.
Example 2: Your Workbook Is a Campaign Brief
You have twelve new ad groups planned in the workbook, one per row in the AdGroups tab, with ad group name in column A, daily budget in column B, and target communities in column C.
For each row in the AdGroups tab, create a Reddit Ads ad group under the campaign ID in cell A1. Use the ad group name from column A, the daily budget from column B, and the target subreddits from column C. Write the ad group ID into column D for each row.
SheetXAI reads each row, creates each ad group via the Reddit Ads API, and logs the ad group IDs back into column D. One prompt, twelve ad groups created, no manual entry in Ads Manager.
Which Method Should You Use
For a true one-off report where speed matters and you will not use it again, downloading a CSV and importing it into Excel is fine. For simple recurring event logging, Power Automate can work if you have the time to build and maintain the flow.
For anything that pulls structured data across multiple campaigns, creates entities from workbook rows, or combines reporting with analysis in a single step, SheetXAI is the only option that does it in one prompt without a configuration layer. The Reddit Ads integration handles both read (performance data, audience audits, change logs) and write (campaign creation, ad group creation, catalog uploads) from the same sidebar.
If you manage Reddit Ads for multiple clients or run these reports on a weekly cadence, the time recovered on the second week covers the cost of the first.
