The Scenario

You are an engineering manager. Fifteen new hires start Monday. It is Thursday afternoon. You have their emails, roles, and Sentry team assignments in an Excel workbook. Every one of them needs a Sentry invite and team assignment before day one.

The slow version:

  • Open Sentry Settings, invite the first person, set role
  • Navigate to Teams, find the right team, add them
  • Go back to Members, invite the second person
  • Repeat fifteen times across two settings sections
  • It is 5:30 PM. You have invited nine people and added six to their teams.

The fast version is one prompt.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI reads the workbook and handles every invite and team assignment in one pass.

Open the SheetXAI sidebar and type:

Invite each email in column A to Sentry organization 'my-org' with the role in column B, then add them to the team slug in column C, and write 'invited' or the error in column D.

SheetXAI sends all fifteen invites, assigns each person to their team, and logs every result in column D.

What You Get

Column D: 'invited' for every successful row, or the error message for any row that failed (already in org, invalid team slug, unrecognized role). Filter column D to find failures, fix the cells, and rerun.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

When role names in the workbook do not match Sentry's labels

Normalize column B: map 'engineer', 'developer', 'swe' to 'member', keep 'admin' as is. Then invite each email with the normalized role and add them to the team in column C. Write the result in column D.

When some team slugs in the workbook may be wrong

List all team slugs in 'my-org' into a validation tab. For each row, check if the slug in column C is valid. Write 'INVALID TEAM' in column D for invalid rows. Only send invites for valid rows.

When some hires should be invited but not assigned to a team yet

For each row: if column C is blank, invite the email with the role but skip the team assignment, writing 'invited (no team)' in column D. If column C has a team slug, invite and assign, writing 'invited + team'.

When you want invites, team assignments, and a Slack notification in one pass

Invite each email in column A to Sentry 'my-org' with the role in column B and team slug in column C. Write results in column D. After all invites, post to #eng-leads Slack: how many succeeded, how many failed, and list the failed emails.

The pattern: the workbook is the onboarding manifest. One prompt executes it.
