Export Tapfiliate Commissions Into a Excel workbook for Analysis

5 min read

The Scenario

You're a finance analyst. Quarter end is four days away. Your controller wants a pivot table showing Q1 affiliate commissions by program, affiliate tier, and approval status — with subtotals.

All 3,400 commission records are inside Tapfiliate. You have an Excel workbook open and nothing in it.

The bad version:

  • Go to Tapfiliate's commissions report, filter by date range, export CSV.
  • Open the file in Excel. Affiliate name and affiliate ID are in separate columns but your pivot needs them combined. Status is an internal code, not a readable label. Program names are numeric IDs.
  • Build a lookup table to decode the program IDs. Write a second formula to decode the status codes. Discover the date column format doesn't parse as a date in Excel.
  • Spend two hours formatting before building a single pivot.

Quarter-end reporting is not optional. The pivot is expected Thursday. It is Tuesday.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Excel workbook. It connects to Tapfiliate and writes commission records into your workbook in the structure you need for analysis — no CSV, no lookup formulas, no date reformatting.

Fetch every commission from Tapfiliate for the affiliates listed in column A of this Excel sheet and add the results below, showing commission amount, type, and approval status

What You Get

  • One row per commission record written into the active worksheet.
  • Columns: affiliate name, program name (as a readable label), commission amount, approval status (as a readable label), and conversion date in Excel date format.
  • Data lands pivot-ready — affiliate name, program, and status are already clean labels.
  • 3,400 rows pulled in one operation.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

You only need approved commissions for the controller report

The controller's pivot should exclude pending commissions that might be reversed.

Pull all Tapfiliate commissions from January through March where approval status is approved. Write them to the Q1 Commissions worksheet with columns for affiliate name, program name, amount, status, and conversion date in Excel date format

Program names need to match your internal reporting labels

Tapfiliate's program names don't match the labels your finance team uses in their reports.

Pull all Q1 Tapfiliate commissions. Map program names to internal labels using the Programs worksheet — column A is Tapfiliate program name, column B is the internal label. Write the internal label to the Program column in the output. Include affiliate name, amount, status, and date

You need one worksheet per program for the controller's file

The controller wants each affiliate program on its own worksheet tab.

Pull all Tapfiliate commissions from Q1. Create a separate worksheet for each program and write that program's commissions to the corresponding worksheet — columns: affiliate name, amount, approval status, conversion date

Full quarterly commission package in one pass

Pull all Tapfiliate Q1 commissions. Exclude rejected status. Map program names using the Programs worksheet. Write one row per commission to the Commissions worksheet with affiliate name, internal program label, amount, status, and date. Add a Summary worksheet with total approved commission per program sorted descending, and a grand total row at the bottom

One prompt builds both the data worksheet and the summary the controller needs.
