Export Trello Board Action History to a Excel workbook

The Scenario

Three cards missed their deadlines on the "Client Deliverables" board and the program manager needs to figure out why — not by guessing, but by pulling the actual sequence of events. Who moved what. When. What was commented. The answer lives in Trello's action history. The investigation needs to happen in Excel.

The bad version:

  1. Open each affected card in Trello, scroll to the activity feed, and read through the history.
  2. Copy each relevant action into the workbook by hand — date, action type, actor, affected card.
  3. Try to do the same for the 90-day board-level history, which is not visible in a card's individual feed.

You cannot run a deadline investigation by reading a scroll of UI events and typing what you see. The action log needs to be in a table before you can find the pattern.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Excel workbook. It fetches the full action history from Trello's API and writes every event into your workbook — structured, filterable, and ready for analysis.

Open a blank worksheet and paste:

Get all actions for the Trello board named "Client Deliverables" and write each action's date, type, member who performed it, and the card or list it affected into this sheet.

What You Get

  • One row per action across the board's full history.
  • Date, action type, actor username, and the card or list affected each in their own column.
  • The output is ready to filter by actor, by action type, or by date range without any reshaping.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

You want to filter to only comment and update actions

Fetch all "commentCard" and "updateCard" actions from the Trello board "Client Deliverables" in the last 60 days and write the date, actor username, card name, and action data into this Excel sheet.

You want to see only card-move actions to trace the path each card took

Get all "updateCard" actions from the Trello board "Client Deliverables" where a card was moved between lists. Write the date, card name, source list, destination list, and actor username into this sheet.

You need to scope the history to specific cards identified in the workbook

For each card ID in column A of this sheet, fetch all actions on that Trello card in the last 90 days and write the date, action type, actor username, and action detail into the rows below, with the card name in column E.

Full deadline-miss investigation in one shot

Get all actions from the Trello board "Client Deliverables" in the last 90 days. Write each action's date, type, actor, and affected card name into this sheet. Then separately, for each card whose ID appears in column G, flag its rows in column F with "flagged" so I can isolate the relevant history.

The pattern: pull the raw event log into a workbook, then filter and annotate for the investigation you actually need.
