Export Stale Trello Cards to a Excel workbook

The Scenario

You are the engineering manager. Three weeks of standups have been vague. Cards seem to sit in 'In Progress' and 'Review' without moving, but nobody flags them and nobody knows exactly which ones. You want a list of every card that's been inactive for 30 or more days before the next weekly sync. The workbook is already open.

The bad version:

  • Open Trello. Click into 'In Progress'. Open the first card. Check the last activity date — it's buried in the card's activity log. Note it. Close. Next card.
  • Fifteen cards in 'In Progress', twelve in 'Review'. That's 27 individual card opens to get a number that should be one query.

Stale cards are a signal, and signals should surface automatically. By the time you're hunting for them manually, the blocker is already overdue.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI fetches the cards, checks last-activity dates against your threshold, and writes the flagged ones into your workbook.

Fetch all cards from the Trello board 'Engineering Sprint' that are in the lists 'In Progress' or 'Review', and write the card name, list name, due date, and last activity date into this sheet. Flag any card with no activity in the last 30 days in column E.

What You Get

  • One row per card from the specified lists.
  • Columns: card name (A), list name (B), due date (C), last activity date (D).
  • Column E: "stale" for cards with no activity in 30+ days, blank otherwise.
  • Sorted by last activity date ascending so the most neglected cards appear first.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

You want all lists, not just those two

Fetch all cards from the Trello board 'Engineering Sprint' regardless of list. Write card name, list, due date, and last activity date into this workbook. Flag any card with no activity in the last 30 days in column E.

The staleness threshold should be configurable from a cell

Fetch all cards from 'Engineering Sprint'. Write card name, list, and last activity date into columns A-C. Flag any card where last activity is older than the number of days in cell F1 in column D.

You need assignees so you know who to contact about each stale card

Get all cards from 'Engineering Sprint' in 'In Progress' or 'Review'. Write card name, list, due date, last activity date, and assigned member usernames into this workbook. Flag stale cards (30+ days inactive) in column F.

Surface stale cards, flag unassigned ones, and draft a summary for the sync

Fetch all cards from 'Engineering Sprint' in 'In Progress' or 'Review'. Write card name, list, due date, last activity, and members into columns A-E. In column F, flag cards stale for 30+ days. In column G, flag cards with no assigned member. Add a summary section below listing how many are stale and how many have no owner.
