Manage Custom Domains and Create Campaign Links in a Google Sheet

The Scenario

You run paid digital for three clients. Each client has their own Short Menu custom domain — branded short links that match their company name. Your agency sheet for this week's campaign has 30 new destination URLs in column A and a note in cell B1 saying which client domain to use.

Someone on your team ran the last batch manually and used the wrong domain for eight rows. The client noticed. That conversation was unpleasant.

The bad version:

  • Log into Short Menu, navigate to the custom domains panel, find the right domain name, write it down or memorize it, go back to the link creation form.
  • Paste the first URL from column A, set the custom domain dropdown to the right one, generate the link, copy the short URL, switch to the sheet, paste into column B2.
  • Do that 29 more times — selecting the domain manually each time — because the interface doesn't persist the selection between links.
  • Eventually get 30 links, check them against the domain, and discover that somewhere around link 15 you switched back to the default domain without noticing.

One misclicked dropdown on a tired afternoon and the wrong domain goes to the wrong client. You don't have the margin to be the quality-control checkpoint on a task that should have been automatic.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI is an AI agent that lives inside your Google Sheet. It reads your data and talks to Short Menu directly — including pulling your available custom domains and applying the right one to each link based on what your sheet says.

List my available Short Menu domains, then for each URL in column A create a short link under the domain named in cell B1 and write the short URL into column B

What You Get

  • SheetXAI fetches your Short Menu custom domain list, matches the name in B1 to the correct domain, and applies it to every link it creates.
  • Column B fills with short links that all resolve under the specified custom domain — no dropdown misclicks, no silent fallbacks to the default domain.
  • If the domain in B1 doesn't match any of your Short Menu domains, SheetXAI surfaces that as an error before creating any links, so you catch the mismatch immediately instead of discovering it after 30 wrong-domain links are already queued.
  • The resulting URLs in column B are ready to hand to the client or load into the campaign scheduler without a verification pass.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

I want to first see what domains are available before picking one

Fetch all Short Menu custom domains and put them in column A of the "Domains" sheet so I can see what's available, then I'll update cell B1 on the "Campaign" sheet before you create any links

Some URLs in column A are duplicates from a copy-paste error

Deduplicate column A first, then create Short Menu short links using the domain in cell B1 for each unique URL and write the short URLs into column B

Different rows should use different client domains — the domain is in column C per row

For each URL in column A, create a Short Menu short link using the custom domain specified in column C of that row and write the resulting short URL into column D

The URLs are raw and some need parameters stripped before shortening

Strip any UTM parameters from the URLs in column A, then create Short Menu short links using the domain in cell B1 and write the clean short URLs into column B

One prompt handles the data prep and the link creation together — no intermediate cleanup step, no manual verification of which domain landed on which row.
