The Scenario
You are a digital marketing manager at an e-commerce brand. The quarterly business review is Friday. Your CMO wants to know which email campaigns performed best this quarter and whether open rates are trending up or down.
Twenty campaigns went out over the last 90 days. All the data is in ActiveTrail. None of it is in the Excel workbook sitting open on your screen.
The slow version of Wednesday:
- You log into ActiveTrail and open each campaign report one by one
- You write down open rate, click rate, and bounce rate for each, or screenshot them
- You manually build a table in the Campaign Data tab of your workbook
- You realize you missed campaign 14 and your row numbers are off by one
- You build a chart and the scale is wrong because one outlier skewed the axis
- The Friday deck goes out with a chart titled "Q1 Performance" because you forgot to update the title.
The fast version is one prompt Wednesday afternoon.
The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI
SheetXAI is an AI agent inside your Excel workbook that reads ActiveTrail campaign data and writes it directly into the workbook — no dashboard navigation, no copy-pasting.
Open the SheetXAI sidebar and type:
Pull all ActiveTrail campaign reports from the last 90 days into the Campaign Data tab of this workbook. Include campaign name, send date, sent count, open rate, click rate, and bounce rate. Sort by open rate descending. Add a summary row at the bottom with averages across all campaigns.
SheetXAI calls ActiveTrail, fetches every campaign from the last 90 days, writes them into the Campaign Data tab, and adds the summary row.
What You Get
A clean campaign performance table for the QBR:
- One row per campaign — campaign name, send date, sent count, open rate, click rate, bounce rate
- Sorted by open rate — best performers at the top
- Summary row — averages across all 20 campaigns for the deck's headline numbers
The averages are based on the actual data, not on what you estimated from the dashboard. If your average open rate is 24.3%, the summary row says 24.3%.
Want a chart? Add it to the prompt. SheetXAI can create a line chart on a separate tab showing open rate and click rate by send date, in the same run.
What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready
Real campaign data has edge cases. SheetXAI handles them in the same prompt.
When some campaigns are tests or internal sends
A few rows are internal test campaigns with subject lines like "TEST — do not send."
Pull all ActiveTrail campaign reports from the last 90 days into the Campaign Data tab. Exclude any campaign where the name contains "TEST" or "INTERNAL". Sort by send date, then add a summary row.
When you want monthly averages instead of individual campaigns
The CMO wants monthly trends, not a row-per-campaign table.
Pull all ActiveTrail campaign reports from the last 90 days. Group by month and write one row per month to the Monthly Summary tab: month, average open rate, average click rate, average bounce rate, total sends. Add an overall quarter average row at the bottom.
When click-to-open rate is the key metric
Your boss asked specifically for CTOR, which ActiveTrail does not always surface directly.
Pull all ActiveTrail campaign reports from the last 90 days into the Campaign Data tab — campaign name, open rate, click rate. Calculate click-to-open rate as click rate divided by open rate and write it into column G. Flag campaigns where CTOR is below 10% with "LOW CTOR" in column H.
When you want the full picture — data pull, analysis, and chart in one prompt
You have not looked at the data yet and the QBR is tomorrow.
Pull all ActiveTrail campaigns from the last 90 days into the Campaign Data tab — name, send date, open rate, click rate, bounce rate. Calculate CTOR and add it as column G. Flag the top 3 and bottom 3 campaigns by open rate. Then create a line chart on the Charts tab showing open rate and click rate by send date.
The pattern: instead of pulling the data first and then analyzing it, you describe the whole output and SheetXAI handles it end to end.
Try It
Get the 7-day free trial of SheetXAI and open a blank Excel workbook, then ask it to pull your last quarter of ActiveTrail campaign data. The ActiveTrail integration is included in every SheetXAI plan. For related workflows, see how to export campaign clickers and openers to Excel or the ActiveTrail in Excel overview.
