The Scenario

You are a media planner building the Q3 Reddit Ads targeting strategy for a consumer tech brand. Before you can map campaign objectives to targeting segments, you need to know what interest categories and third-party audience segments are actually available in Reddit Ads.

Reddit Ads has hundreds of interest categories and multiple third-party audience partners. You have never pulled the full taxonomy. You need it in a Google Sheet so you and the client can work through it together in a shared document.

The client kick-off is Wednesday. It is Monday.

The bad version:

  • You search online for a list of Reddit Ads interest categories and find documentation that is a year out of date
  • You log into Reddit Ads Manager and try to navigate to the interest targeting section inside campaign creation
  • The UI is not designed for exporting, it is designed for selecting
  • You screenshot interest categories page by page and type them into a Google Sheet
  • By the end of Monday you have 80 categories in the sheet and you are not sure if you missed any.

The fast version is one prompt.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI pulls the full Reddit Ads interest taxonomy and third-party audience list from the API and writes it into the sheet, so you never manually transcribe targeting options from a UI.

Open the SheetXAI sidebar and type:

Fetch all available Reddit Ads interest targeting categories and write interest ID and display name into columns A and B of my sheet. Sort alphabetically by display name.

SheetXAI calls the Reddit Ads interest targeting endpoint, pulls the full taxonomy, and writes every category into the sheet. The full list, alphabetically sorted, ready to share with the client.

What You Get

A complete interest targeting reference table in the sheet:

  • Column A — interest ID (for use in campaign targeting or follow-up prompts)
  • Column B — display name (the human-readable category name)
  • Alphabetically sorted — easy to scan and filter

The IDs in column A are directly usable. When you decide which categories to target, you use the IDs in a follow-up prompt to apply them to ad groups. You do not look them up again.

Want the third-party audience list too? Ask SheetXAI to pull the third-party audience segments into a second tab with the same columns. It handles both in the same session.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

Taxonomy pulls always need a follow-up before they are usable for planning. SheetXAI handles the extensions in the same prompt.

When you need to pull both interest categories and third-party audiences in one pass

The full targeting reference should include everything available, not just first-party interest data.

Fetch all Reddit Ads interest targeting categories and write interest ID and display name into columns A and B of the Interests tab. Then fetch all available third-party audience segments and write segment ID and display name into columns A and B of the Third Party tab. Sort both tabs alphabetically by display name.

When you need to filter the taxonomy to categories relevant to a specific vertical

You are building a plan for a consumer tech brand. You only want categories that are plausibly relevant: technology, gaming, science, business, finance.

Fetch all Reddit Ads interest categories. Filter to categories whose display name contains any of the following terms: Technology, Gaming, Science, Business, Finance, Software, Hardware, Computing, Investing. Write the filtered list into columns A and B, sorted alphabetically.

When the client wants a usable planning matrix with category groups

The client needs to see categories organized by parent group so they can evaluate coverage by vertical.

Fetch all Reddit Ads interest categories. Write interest ID into column A, display name into column B, and the parent category group into column C if available. Sort by column C (parent group) ascending, then by column B (display name) ascending. This is for building a targeting plan.

When you need the taxonomy alongside campaign targeting to see what you are currently using versus what is available

The planning review needs to compare what the brand has targeted historically to what is available.

Fetch all Reddit Ads interest categories and write interest ID and display name into columns A and B of the Taxonomy tab. Then fetch the targeting details for all active campaigns in my account and write the interest IDs currently in use into column A of the In Use tab, with display names in column B. In column C of the Taxonomy tab, write "IN USE" next to any category that appears in the In Use tab, so the gap in coverage is immediately visible.

The pattern: the taxonomy is an API call. The gap analysis is a join. You describe both in one prompt and SheetXAI writes the full planning reference before the client kick-off.
