Create Shippo User Parcel Templates From a Box Sizes Sheet

The Scenario

You are the ops coordinator at a fulfillment warehouse. Your facility uses 8 standard box sizes for every shipment. Right now, every time someone creates a shipment in Shippo, they re-enter the box dimensions from a laminated sheet on the wall.

You want all 8 sizes registered as Shippo user parcel templates so they can be selected by name in any future shipment, no re-entry, no errors, no one misreading the laminated sheet.

The dimensions are already in a Google Sheet: template name in column A, length in column B, width in column C, height in column D, all in inches, and max weight in column E.

The slow version:

  • You open Shippo's parcel templates section
  • You click "Add template," fill in the name and dimensions for template one
  • You save it, go back to the list, add template two
  • Eight templates, eight clicks through the same form.

The fast version is one prompt.

The Easy Way: One Prompt in SheetXAI

SheetXAI reads the box sizes sheet and creates all 8 Shippo parcel templates in one go.

Open the SheetXAI sidebar and type:

Create a Shippo user parcel template for each row in my Box Sizes sheet using column A for template name, B for length, C for width, D for height (all in inches), and E for max weight. Write the template ID into column F.

SheetXAI reads the 8 rows, creates each one as a Shippo user parcel template, and writes the returned template ID into column F.

What You Get

Eight reusable parcel templates in Shippo, ready to reference by name or ID in any future shipment:

  • Column F — the Shippo template ID for each box size
  • Template available by name — future prompts can say "use the Large Flat Box template" and SheetXAI will look it up by name
  • No dimension re-entry — every shipment created using one of these templates pulls length, width, height, and max weight from the template automatically

One-time setup, permanent reuse. The next time you create 200 shipments, you reference the template, not the ruler.

What If the Data Is Not Quite Ready

Box dimension sheets are usually tidy, but edge cases happen. SheetXAI handles them inline.

When dimensions are stored in centimeters and Shippo needs inches

Your internal standard is metric. Shippo's default unit for user templates is inches.

Convert the dimensions in columns B, C, and D of my Box Sizes sheet from centimeters to inches before creating the Shippo parcel templates. Round to two decimal places. Write the converted dimensions back into columns B through D and write the template ID into column F.

When you want to add a "notes" field to each template description

You want each template to carry a note about which product lines it is used for, so warehouse staff can find the right one quickly.

For each row in my Box Sizes sheet, create a Shippo user parcel template using columns A through E. Use the notes in column G as the template description. Write the template ID into column F.

When some templates already exist and you only want to create the new ones

You added 3 new box sizes to the sheet this week. The other 5 already exist in Shippo.

Skip any row in my Box Sizes sheet that already has a value in column F. For rows where column F is empty, create a Shippo user parcel template using columns A through E and write the new template ID into column F.

When you want to create the templates, verify they appear in Shippo, and build a quick-reference card in one shot

Your warehouse manager wants a printed reference card showing template name, dimensions, and ID for the wall.

Create Shippo user parcel templates for all rows in my Box Sizes sheet where column F is empty. Write the template ID into column F. Then create a new tab called "Quick Reference" with three columns: Template Name (from column A), Dimensions (formatted as LxWxH inches from columns B, C, D), and Shippo Template ID (from column F).

The pattern: create the templates and build the downstream reference artifact in one prompt.

Try It

Get the 7-day free trial of SheetXAI and open any sheet with standard box dimensions, then ask it to create Shippo user parcel templates for every row. The Shippo integration is included in every SheetXAI plan. For related workflows, see how to list all carrier parcel templates into a reference sheet or the Shippo in Google Sheets overview.
